More rain and cool weather for most of the country 27 Feb 2008
The weather forecast for autumn is for more rain and temperatures slightly cooler than usual across the east of Australia, continuing the pattern seen throughout summer. The National Climate Centre says summer rainfall is likely to end up being above average for the eastern two-thirds of Queensland and much of NSW, close to normal in Victoria and South Australia and well above the usual levels in the south of Western Australia. The centre's Blair Trewin said that the southern part of the Murray-Darling Basin has not had the full benefit of the La Nina weather pattern yet but the forecast is leaning very slightly toward the wetter side.
