Water carted to wettest parts of WA
14 Mar 2008

Desalination is being considered as an option to supply water to the Albany region in Western Australia as water is being trucked to communities. Drinking water is being carted to townships including Denmark, Walpole, Cranbrook, Lake King and Varley, as well as many farms throughout the region. The area used to be one of the wettest parts of the state, but the Water Corporation and state government say that climate change has seen a sharp decline in rainfall. Locals are not convinced however, pointing out that Denmark had 950 millimetres of rains last year while Walpole received 1350mm.
