Dry winter forecast for the west

A bumper grain crop from WA seems unlikely with the latest Weather Bureau forecast putting the chance of below average rainfall in the south-west of the state over the next few months at 60 to 70 per cent. The news is better for eastern states where the chance of above average rain has been estimated at between 60 and 70 per cent. Plantings in WA are expected to be scaled back if there is no rain in the next two weeks but falls are being forecast for parts of the state's wheatbelt.
