Silos in demand as growers wait for rain
16 Sep 2008

More grain farmers are investing in on-farm storage units than ever before as fears grow that infrastructure will not be able to cope with a deregulated market with no floor price guaranteed by AWB. Rabobank said the winter wheat crop could reach 21 million tonnes if more rain falls soon. Global wheat prices have fallen significantly since highs in March. Rabobank said the NSW crop was of most concern with the northern regions needing substantial rain this month.
