Rain tipped for summer
11 Dec 2008

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting neutral conditions for the Australian summer, but has raised the possibility of a La Nina event which could bring rains to eastern Australia. La Nina is a significant cooling of ocean temperatures in the Pacific. "Some La Nina characteristics (are) developing across the Pacific'' said the bureau in statement. This last happened in an Australian summer in 1999.
