AWI axes Canberra office
13 Feb 2003

Australian Wool Innovation has closed its Canberra trade policy office and retrenched the five staff, as part of the organisation's restructuring to achieve greater efficiencies.

AWI's Trade Policy Services will now be run out of Melbourne and managed by trade policy officer Bob Quirk, with the assistance of Matthew Flugge, a former pastoral group executive with the Victorian Farmers' Federation.

David Ward, the acting CEO of AWI, explained the move by saying the provision of wool trade policy services had been examined, with a consequence that a decision was reached to tender out the services on a contractual basis and consolidate their management in Melbourne.

Weekly Times, 12/2/03, page 5.
