OJD vaccine hope 9 Apr 2003
Vaccine for Ovine Johne's Disease may become more widely available to sheep breeders under changes being considered by the National Ovine Johne's Disease Program. The change was suggested by the program's technical advisory group and will be discussed in two weeks' time by the national program's members. This could be the first sign that the program may review its position on OJD vaccination.
If the proposal is approved, sheep breeders would be able to voluntarily vaccinate their flocks at a cost of $1.43 per sheep, but the vaccine won't be available over-the-counter.
