WA fox baiting starts in earnest
29 Mar 2004

Western Australian landholders are stepping up their campaign against foxes, with 28 Dumbleyung farmers from 35 properties collecting a total of 600 1080 baits last week. Dumbleyung was just one of 23 shires in WA's south to join a co-ordinated two-week pre-lambing baiting and shooting program.

The program coincides with fox shoots in Dumbleyung and other shires which have recently taken place or will be carried out shortly. A Wagin shoot in February bagged 74 foxes plus rabbits and feral cats in one night.

Placement of individual baits is mapped and recorded. They're left in place for two weeks before unused baits are retrieved and disposed of.

Farm Weekly, 25/3/04.
