AgForce Meating Centre combines food, fashion and fun 6 Aug 2004
AgForce's Meating Centre at the Royal Brisbane Show has a number of new events this year. As well as an a la carte restaurant and gourmet cafe, visitors can watch pasta and bread-making, and cooking demonstrations by the National Beef Sausage King. There are also educational sample bags and giveaways for children.
In past years there have been leather fashion parades several times a day. This year, wool apparel will be on show in the Preece Wines Leather and Wool fashion parades. They'll be run daily at 11.15am, 1.15pm and 3.15pm.
There are also Red Meat cooking demonstrations featuring leading chefs Peter Howard and Alistair McLeod, as well as a Celebrity Challenge focusing on lamb. At 12.40pm each day, several politicians and primary producers will put their cooking skills to the test to produce the best lamb burger of the Ekka.
Last year the Meating Centre was visited by about 250,000 people and considered to be the Ekka's third most popular exhibit, but a much larger crowd is expected this year.
