Wool Corporation rises from the ashes
23 Nov 2004

Research and development company Australian Wool Innovation is talking about a merger with marketing group The Woolmark Company, in a union that would re-establish a single wool promotion company. If the merger were to occur, it would reverse the separation of the old the Australian Wool Research and Promotion Organisation. The AWRPO had in turn replaced the better-known Australian Wool Corporation about nine years ago. The Woolmark Company, which owns the Woolmark logo, was set up as a commercial marketing arm with $40 million in reserves but hasn't made a profit for its wool-growing shareholders in the three years since privatisation.
