Woolgrowers divided over marketing plan
27 Apr 2005

The International Wool Textile Organisation said wool processors, brokers and exporters were expected to match the $7 million in marketing funds surprisingly made available by Australian Wool Innovation, a research and development organisation. Last week, AWI pledged US$5 million towards a collaborative pilot promotional initiative in an attempt to boost wool's presence in the women's apparel market. However, WoolProducers, a farming lobby, said any additional funds from Australian woolgrowers must wait for proof that further investment can create greater demand for Australian wool.
