Elders quits wool exchange
13 Oct 2005

Elders quit the Australian Wool Exchange. The nation's largest wool broker has withdrawn its 11-year-old membership from the organisation, stating "it was hard to define just what being a member actually meant". The loss of Elders from the AWEX membership has triggered a critical revue of the organisation that claims to represent 95pc of all first-hand wool traded in Australia. It includes wool brokers, exporters, private treaty merchants, processors, wool producers and associates.
