Woolgrowers pin hopes on China demand
30 Jan 2006

Australian benchmark wool prices fell to $6.32 in December, their lowest point in six years, and growers are counting on continued strong demand from China to lift returns. While European and American consumers switch to cotton and synthetics, the chinese domestic market is one of the few places where growth is occurring, particularly in menswear. China already accounts for sixty per cent of Australian wool exports.
