Wool goes above 700 cents
6 Feb 2006

The benchmark eastern wool market indicator rose 13 cents last week to close at 704 cents per kilo as European buyers competed with the Chinese to push up prices. A new $1.50 levy on wool buyers also began this week with funds to be directed to a consumer marketing campaign in the US later this year. Australian Wool Innovation is promoting wool and wool blends to the $50 billion global sportswear market.
