SFE / ASX merger expected to be positive for farmers
29 Mar 2006

The proposed merger of the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) and the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE) is expected to see the creation of a single agriculture derivative market, offering cattle, wool and grain derivatives. Currently the ASX offer grain (wheat, sorghum, canola and barley) and wool derivatives, while SFE offers cattle and wool derivatives. The merger is not expected to impact on the MLA/SFE Cattle Futures contract.
