China demands wool testing
14 Feb 2007

Wool processors in China are demanding that Australia test sale lots for dark contaminating fibres. The demand follows criticism by processors last month wanting action on issues such as fibre contamination, poor clip preparation, contract dispute resolution and confusion about the role of Australia’s wool organisation. Dr Peter Morgan, Federation of Australia’s Wool Organisation secretary, said it was clip contamination that was the real issue. "They now want all sale lots tested for contamination." Dr Morgan added that while there was no indication of a boycott, it was imperative to maintain China’s confidence in Australian wool.
