200th wool export anniversary to be celebrated
20 Feb 2007

Celebrations are being planned to mark the 200th anniversary of the first export of Australian wool to Europe. They will start in June and conclude in February 2008 with a wool collection by top designers. Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) general manager of trade development, Pascal Senkoff said AWI intended, "to capitalise on this anniversary to increase the awareness and image of Australian wool to European markets". AWI aims to update the market with how much has changed with wool and wool-textile production.
