Four inducted into Shearers’ Hall of Fame 23 Apr 2007
Another four legends have been inducted into the Australian Shearers’ Hall of Fame, in the western Riverina town of Hay yesterday. One of them was Burt Lowrey who turns 90 today. Australia has three rival organisations running shearing contests and competitions are seen as a great way to attract young people and lift standards. For years the wool industry has been pushing for a unified governing body; however this has failed to be realised due to disunity, unions and different outlooks.
