Sales down as wool price sinks
2 Aug 2007

World wool prices fell to their lowest point this year yesterday while the Western Indicator, a benchmark for WA wool prices, was down 59 cents per kilogram to 867 cents at the Fremantle auction. The low prices meant that many growers did not sell all their wool as reserve prices failed to be reached. An auctioneer at Elders said that withdrawal rates of 20 per cent and pass-in rates of up to 40 per cent were the highest he could remember in 40 years.
