Mulesing stays off the menu 21 Feb 2008
The Australian wool industry has suffered a significant setback with one of the world's largest clothing retailers deciding to continue its ban on Australian wool from mulesed sheep. H&M has 1,500 stores across 28 countries with an annual turnover of around $10 billion. A delegation from the Australian Wool and Sheep Industry Taskforce met with H&M representatives yesterday where the store confirmed its decision. Taskforce representative and woolgrower Don Hamblin said after the meeting that the industry will continue to work with H&M to source wool from farmers that no longer undertake the procedure.
