AWI can’t agree on end to mulesing
4 Nov 2008

Conflict of interest allegations are dogging the wool industry as it seeks to agree on a safe and non-painful alternative to surgical mulesing. Australian Wool Innovation board members who have links to both growers and companies that have been developing chemical pain relievers for mulesing have been leaders in the debate over the issue, say critics of AWI. A senate committee has heard that AWI may no longer be capable of making impartial decisions on the issue. AWI is currently electing new board members. Source: Financial Review 04/11/08
